Morning comrades. Unfortunately I have to spend an extended period away from home and am wondering whether there is anything I can use to keep my mixing going when I am away. I can’t take the XZ. So a small unit which perhaps I can use with Rekordbox on my laptop - I would like to record if poss - and how do I solve the speaker problem ? Any ideas ? Cheers.

baggers44 I’ve been mulling over buying the DDJ-400 for the same purpose - it travels well and unlike the DDJ-200 has a decent range of features for it’s size.

Soundcard/monitoring might be an issue. For a super stripped down version, you could do Laptop+Traktor with an X1 or K2, then use a splitter cable (https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/traktor/traktor-for-ios/traktor-dj-cable/) from the laptop 3.5 out to route one side to your headphones and one side to a portable speaker with aux in. Ive used a Sony SRS speaker before and these have minimal lag/delay, so can be used to live mix really well. Did a good few sets during lockdown in the middle of nowhere using battery power/4G to steam and worked a treat. Recording would be done internally via Traktor. You just need to grab a relevant Midi map for the controller as per your requirements.

IndustryStandard K2 has a headphone-socket and RCA output both, no need for a splitter.

…or if you don’t get on with the K2, consider the Traktor Z1 or the Reloop Mixtour (latter can be mapped to work with Rekordbox)
