…overall looks great tbh, I’m a fan of combining the best of analogue/digital, I know the Rane 2015 was discounted by a lot of rotary folk for this very reason but I think that is a solid mixer and sound wasn’t compromised, to my ears anyway.
Details like the Neve transformers show they have a real commitment to sound quality, and the metering, (which is poor to non-existent on a lot of high-end rotaries) looks fantastic on this, and I reckon this is super-important, especially on an installation-type mixer, where lots of different DJ’s will mean lots of jumping between formats.
Expensive yes, but totally on-board with Mojaxx’s comment on this- add a quality audio interface so you can connect a computer, and a multi FX unit (which doesn’t really exist at this level of sound quality anyway), that might account for £1200′ish alone- suddenly the price doesn’t look that crazy.
Only downside for me is the looks… (as ACDC once said) it ain’t exactly pretty, the 2-tier layout reminds me of some of the more radical Vestax designs of the 90’s, and those rose gold knobs can fuck right off (it would instantly look 50% better without them). It would be cool if now AT are independent from Pio, they came out with a few more bold designs like this- they’ve been so obsessed with creating the ‘industry standard’ for so long, everything looks the same.
Look forward to having a go… and thankfully, it being Pioneer(ish), this is much more possible than it otherwise might be.
