Unbroken1 believe it or not mate, this is 2024 already. Feels like we’ve been cheated out of a couple of years use of them in clubs.
2009 = CDJ 2000
2012 = CDJ 2000nxs
2016 = CDJ 2000nxs2
2020 = CDJ 3000
…..
Whether any of us care or not (I don’t) the DJ hardware companies are fighting over the Stems space and the release of the Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 is their first iteration of hardware buttons for it. (top left corner)
Now that there are generations of DJs coming through who are skilled in their genre using it, and Pioneer are playing catch up in this field, I’d expect similar or even the same types of buttons on CDJ-3000 successor.
FWIW Stems is based on open source architecture and there are multiple versions (lower quality works on 2009-2012 laptops, higher quality works on approx 2019 onwards - Pioneer wanted the most amount of users to try it and it apparently sounds bad)
I watched an interview with Pulse from Pioneer who explained the quality of stems is about to change but it will either exclude old laptops all together, or have a system that detects what your laptop can handle and puts the most stable one for you to DJ on, on your laptop for it’s spec.
Probably great for Mobile DJs wanting to get creative with word play and not just play songs end to end, stuff like that.
