jonattonyeah Been listening to that mix, it’s still excellent. Pacing, mixing, impact, just a really good dj making two hours count. Pure nostaligia being there. His mix of Blank and Jones Cream still sounds superb and the transition into the Riddle is great. Always better than Oakie.

I was too young for proper clubs where the big name DJs played. But PVD did a warehouse gig in Oakland around 1998/99. Me and my Padres were all House heads and dubious of most things Trance - grew up on the likes of Mark Farina and DJ Dan.

PVD smashed the place. Absolute blast had by everyone. That night and Sasha’s GU’s changed my tune when it came to more melodic dance music.

A Brummie tried to kick off with me because he sauntered in to the tent after about 6 tracks and asked “Has he played For An Angel yet” and he had, so I said yeah, the Brummie wasn’t having it at all.

HIs productions still have the best kick drum going, IMO. Just fuck the baseline we’re going to beat you over the head with this kick. And it worked with his melodies.

For me it was over when he came on after Sasha and JXL in LA for NYE. Just flat and boring in comparison. This must’ve been around 2001 or so.

Still one of the best to do it. And I don’t like Trance.
