Millsy I really enjoyed that episode, there is a bit where he has the salt and pepper box in front of him and he goes ‘You know what this needs? Curry sauce’ or something like that.
I am a big fan of the salt and pepper box, I think it’s the best of this hybrid Chinese-British food, or rather ‘Chinese preparing deep fried shite for British tastes’ genre, so no complaints from me. It is what it is.
What annoys me is when you get some absolute prick like Ed. Sm’n esq. going to somewhere called ‘North China’ and gushing like Lloyd Grossman “Oh it’s so authentic!” when the menu is full of Nanyang (southern) Cuisine like Satay (not even Chinese), and he doesn’t know what the fuck he’s on about. And neither do they. I can spot a mile off it’s probably a bunch of Malaysians of Chinese descent trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.
