I DID MY RESEARCH!
Or rather I found somebodt that did theirs.
Benson is not tooting. By that I mean the village of Benson which I drive through to get to work. Out here EDGE is the best we have at times. Proper 2G.
It took me ages to figure this out, trawling through Reddit and various forums. Itās due to the signal thresholds that Vodafone have set. For example of a 5G signal is very weak the phone will switch down to 4G if the 4G signal is stronger. If a 4G signal is below a certain level then the phone will switch to 3G - but now thereās no 3Gā¦ So it goes to 2G as there is usually a strong (stronger) 2G signal around.
On an Android phone, go to settings -> Network & Internet -> SIMs -> Vodafone. Scroll to the bottom of the page and turn off the, āAllow 2Gā option. Now your phone wonāt have 2G as an option and will therefore cling into 4G for longer.
I did this and all my signal problems are gone. Itās not Vodafoneās coverage thatās the problem, itās Vodafone not updating the device profiles - they could literally fix this overnight but they havenāt even acknowledged it.
