Alright guys,
Hope your eyes handled the orange last week. I’m back outdoors today, we’ve got half decent weather.
Some background info about what’s happening in an hour. I am wondering if any of you had experience with this era/club/artist.
Newcastle had a legendary little House night called Habit at Cosmic Ballroom. The club is still there with a revamp and new VOID kitted out but Habit finished up a 5 year run around 2010.
They had a certain sound around 2005-07. Professionals say that music, like fashion, is cyclical and and I’m actually starting to hear essences of that era returning in some of January’s Progressive/Melodic House releases.
A personal favourite Neil Quigley has returned to the scene as Qess and artists who’s music I currently play like Antrim, Rauschhaus and Matthew Deekay seem to be taking us both back and forward in time using hypnotic tribal loops and unique house grooves.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to dedicate the earlier portion of this Sunday’s Live Set to Cosmic Ballroom and take you on a journey through this vibe in the first hour before ramping up the energy.
If you’ve never dipped your toe into this, you are always welcome to join in, we have a lot of fun in the chat, switch the world off for a couple of hours to music that I hope you enjoy.

There’s been a really nice turn out from JC and it’s always good crack when you’re involved. The new Prog out this last week or two is class and there’s some proper ethereal, melodic and uplifting numbers coming through that I’ve got to share including a new favourite which i’ll play around the half way mark.

Happy new year JCers. You guys are in a lockdown and, we have just started a proper harsh one in Cyprus. (We have to text the police to get permission to leave the house). But I hear you have snow!
We’re back in action this Sunday.
If you’re new to this or wondering what it’s about, in 2020 I couldn’t do live performances and was basically starting to become known in a local scene in Newcastle upon Tyne (I run PROGRESS: ON with Alan Ruddick, Phil Littledyke and my fiancée Sophie).
We moved to Cyprus for work, intending on flying back for events and we are stuck here. I wanted to continue the connection with people in some form and learned how to do streaming from our home in Limassol.
Melodicast is a series where I share the best new music or highlight lesser known rising stars. I literally sift through hundreds of new releases to get to what you end up hearing.
I’d love it if you could join us with a tipple of your choice, we have 2 hours of fun, Smallman dances with his top off, we shut the world off. It’s the best thing I can give everyone right now and since my business is on hold this does a lot for me too.

@strummer - Gave that Netflix documentary a watch, very good!
I still can’t get over how shit “5 Bloods” was either. Made even worse by respected critics saying it was good, obviously shitting bricks about saying anything bad because of the BLM protests.
Blow: Watched this for the first time since college and high school. Hasn’t aged a bit, it’s a solid druggie movie. And slightly more interesting with the Narcos context. Loses its way right at the end with some on-the-nose melodrama, but otherwise a classic. 8.9/10
The Way Back: Millsy will enjoy this Ben Affleck flick about a grieving alcoholic father, with a rocky marriage, coaching an urban high school basketball team. Swerve big time. 2/10
