Wally Mad_Cyril Totally a ‘hard man’ facade Cyril, don’t fall for it. Grant was blubbing like a school girl as the soft melancholic chords of ‘A Life’ blared out.
apyssjw ScottBailey https://www.pikesibiza.com/venue/528-ibiza/ also now playing 15 July Pikes open air event.
CindyLouWho Grand Theft Audio gig at Rebellion in Manchester last night was really funny/quirky and quite the contrast from a lot of the gigs I’ve been to recently - well tbh totally off piste from EDM. However, enjoyed the variety nevertheless.
CindyLouWho The Alfos/Sprechen gig at Freight Island in Manchester today was fantastic! Music was perfect for what felt like being on holiday in the lush sunshine - starting with chill vibes in the afternoon and ramping up as the night went on. The daytime bit felt like the ultimate beer garden/EDM appreciation session in the lush sunshine Ibiza-style, which may sound a bit odd given the location but it worked. The dance floors (both outdoors and under cover) were also not overcrowded as half the people there by the end seemed to be celebrating them finished running the Manchester Marathon so guessing they were too knackered to dance lol. Really good event though. 4 lovely friendly DJs with varied styles of sets and a great venue for today’s weather especially. Plus, tickets were totally free of charge. Bonus! A great day indeed!
Mad_Cyril CindyLouWho Good stuff, nice to hear it. Op being delayed put paid to my chances of going, but was a lovely day yesterday so glad it worked out well. Also good to see local music scene doing well, Chris has been bubbling for a while.
CindyLouWho Millsy it was Ghost Assembly, Chris Massey (from Sprechen), Tom Sharkett and Sean Johnston (from A Love From Outer Space).
CindyLouWho Smallman1 it was indeed. First time I’ve been to a Sprechen event. Was impressed, though. They’ve told me their next event is on 30th May at The Yard in Manchester for the Sea Fever album launch so I’m probably going to try and get to that.
CindyLouWho Mad_Cyril oh, and I meant to say, I hope all goes well with your op when the time comes. Hopefully you can make the next Sprechen event 🙂
CindyLouWho Cheers @Millsy and @Mad_Cyril - yeah, agree with you both. Chris is so driven (met him in person for the 1st time yesterday) and the venue he’s got lined up for this Sea Fever album launch gig on 30th May (deffo going to that one) - looks incredible! Sprechen’s event plans feel really grassroots and ambitious simultaneously. It’s really heartening to have that on the scene imo.
Dan CindyLouWho Chris is top bloke and was the driving force behind the Electric Elephant Festival and helped run Paper music. Underrated dj.
CindyLouWho Dan oh really? I didn’t realise that was part of Chris’s story. Yeah, he seems like a top bloke and not only is he so easy to chat with but his set yesterday was really great and he’s clearly so passionate about creating fantastic music events. Kudos to him!
