IS FUCKING SERATO EVER GONNA WORK WITH BIG SUR?
IS FUCKING SERATO EVER GONNA WORK WITH BIG SUR?
sorry - but has been 3 months now
big sur downloaded overnight - didn’t even have a choice
There’s a reason I’ve stayed on Mojave. As a DJ, it’s just not worth going to the newest operating system (and Mojave is excellent for supporting other apps that Catalina and Big Sur killed off)
Follow these instructions if you want to do go to Mojave.
You can’t downgrade to a 32 bit system on recent macs btw. Think it has to be a pre 2018 Mac. I.e if your Mac shipped with Catalina or Big Sur you’re stuck with them. I’ve stuck with Catalina as Big Sur or BS had/ has Bluetooth issues. Use a PC for non compatible apps which is less than ideal but has extra benefits (gaming etc.)
DOH!
Slightly off topic, but I’m just done with Apple for reasons of this nature. The built in obsolescence in it’s many guises can just fuck off. I’m trying to keep a 2010 iMac on it’s feet and it’s getting more and more difficult.
My mid-2010 Macbook Pro still works with zero issues. Upgraded the OS twice and fortunately haven’t needed to go any further.
Mac last for ages - PC, especially laptops don’t last ten years, or at least not in my experience.
Had my Samsung laptop for about 10 years now. I’ve replaced the hardrive and now my disk drive doesn’t work anymore. So it’s definitely on its way out.
vinnyt77 Yes and no… Ten years seems decent, but I have a PC which is 15 years old (running Vista)… I feel like the Mac should be better built and last longer, but I have recently had bits of hardware begin to falter, screen issues etc. Plus, I can’t update the OS any further due to bullshit ‘hardware limitations’, which now limits what I can and can’t run on it.
Once you’ve had Mac, there’s no going back!
Dave will not like the use of capitals

vinnyt77 Can’t be arsed with any of that anyway
Along_the_Wire Bit trickier if you are being asked to use software for a specific job that can only run on the latest OS though, and you can’t run that newer OS because of your older hardware.
Amps i agree, but for my use, it all gravy really. I don’t upgrade for a few months anyway until more bugs have been ironed out. This example would fuck me off, but it doesn’t affect me.
