Fuck thats a TL alright. Totally forgot about Under The Cherry Moon when doing my list.

Like all the best Djs, Prince saved his top gigs for London!

Always nice to see artists really turn up for third world crowds. Means a lot to the people.

Need to bring your A game here.

Not like in the States where you can play any old nonsense and the thickos lap it up.

A game is absolutely needed when performing for a bunch of blokes loaded with butties and stella.

Didnt he write hits for a multitide of artists also? He was basically a pocket sized rock of base speed.

LT42 oh yeah. He wrote for The Time, Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Chaka Kahn…. Manic Monday is the one that is often brought up, but he wrote a shit load of other major hits. All at like the hight of his career too. I forget which one it was, but the artist said he called them and was like “I wrote something for you”… Think it was Love Song for Moadonna, but IDK.

edit that was Manic Monday. Called up the Bengals and said he was obsessed with their music and wrote a song for them.

    • LT42 replied to this.

zackster Mad buzzer and shows a really kind side to his character too. A genuine artist in the same bracket as Bowie. Theyre in short supply these days.

        LT42 Bowie

he is one of the only people that comes to mind when I think of someone like Prince, for sure.

coming up with the 5 best prince records is pretty impossible. i’m a big fan of his early stuff, so i’ll lean that way, in no particular order.

        1. pop life
        2. i feel for you
        3. why you wanna treat me so bad?
        4. when you were mine
        5. i wanna be your lover

honorable mentions to uptown, controversy, and i would die for you. the volume and quality of his output was nothing short of incredible.

303abuser might have been lockdown getting to me, but one of our few indoor gettogethers last summer was for the 4th of July. We ended up watching it and having a total blast.

zackster amazing album. Couldn’t he play some stupid amount of instruments too? Just picked them up, got the basics and then proceeded to jam like he had played it all his life. A major talent.

Can’t have a Prince thread without the Charlie Murphy story

              Purple Rain
              Sign of the Times
              Dirty Mind
              Parade
              1999

              The Beautiful ones
              Erotic City
              Controvery
              Pop Life
              Sign of the Times

Millsy yeah he played like sax, keys, drums, guitar and probably more shit too. I think it’s super respectable that he was such a beast guitar player, yet rarely featured massive solos on his albums. Like, compare that to someone like Eddie Van Halen, who I also love, but he quickly turned all of their output into “listen to me jam”.
