I know a former Oakland Councilperson (they’ve helped us with permits and various other things). They were involved with the Raiders/Oakland negotiations. Told me the NFL said they weren’t a fan of a team in Vegas for a few reasons. Anecdotal, I know, but they don’t have any reason to make that up.

And while it has been years, the Davis family is still in control, likely has the worst finance situation in the league, beat to their own drum, et cetera. I mean, their two first round picks from 2020 speaks for itself.

jonattonyeah i think that if the nfl (i.e. the other owners) didn’t want a team in vegas, there wouldn’t be a team in vegas, especially not the raiders. and i’m sure they want corporate owners vs. a family run team where this is their only business, they’ve made that pretty clear.

and ruggs wasn’t a bad pick as he was playing pretty well, i think he’s just a kid who did something colossally stupid. arnette on the other hand, was a terrible pick, there’s no question about that. i do love that kc signed him as they have zero behavioural standards (see: tyreek hill).

From my understanding (again, hearsay), this councilperson was told my an NFL rep, to paraphrase, “can Oakland figure this out? We really don’t want a team in Vegas.”

As for Ruggs and Arnette, it’s more of an image thing that the Raiders always seem to wrestle with. Of course it was their two first picks who ended up killing someone and can’t keep from threatening people with guns.

and yes, we tried to draft “character” guys and end up with this shit show. it’s the raider way. like i said, i think i’m just burnt out on the whole thing. i’m sure by the end of the offseason, my crack habit will take over and i’ll be watching again.
