The question is simple one, does it smell real? If we were genuinely getting buzzed by aliens, the reaction would be different. The reaction would be, for want of a better example, initially more like the reaction to covid. None of it ever vibes as real, none of it smells genuine. Throw in all the more critical thinking arguments and it’s all fluff.
