Just listened to Sydney again and firmly in the Amps camp on this one. CD2 is defo the better mix for me
I enjoyed Oakieās Tranceport when it came out, but pretty sure that was an album intended to break through with US audiences (was it even marketed in the UK?). Didnāt take any chances with that mix. Wasnāt familiar with trance music so the songs were fresh and interesting for me back in 1998 - a break from House and DNB, anyway. Still like Sashaās mix of Gus Gus, āGreece 2000ā, and PVDās kickdrums. āGamemasterā, on the other hand, is idiotic.
EDIT Skimming now the mixing isnāt bad if very safe. But I donāt really mind a DJ letting the songs breath if itās obviously a Greatest Hits album.
The Dream Traveler ā āTimeā (Original Mix) (7:17)
Three Drives On A Vinyl ā āGreece 2000ā (Original Mix) (6:44)
Tilt vs. Paul van Dyk ā āRendezvousā (Quadraphonic Mix) (4:08)
Gus Gus ā āPurpleā (Sasha vs. The Light) (7:16)
Ascension ā āSomeoneā (Slacker and Original Vocal Mix) (8:12)
Agnelli & Nelson ā āEl NiƱoā (Matt Darey 12ā³ Mix) (7:49)
Energy 52 ā āCafĆ© Del Marā (Three N One Remix) (7:21)
Binary Finary ā ā1998ā (Original Mix / Paul Van Dyk Mix) (5:12)
Paul van Dyk featuring Toni Halliday ā āWords (For Love)ā (Original Mix) (5:08)
Lost Tribe ā āGamemasterā (Original Mix) (7:03)
Transa ā āEnervateā (Original Mix) (7:11)
mono-stereo the goa mix? havenāt listened in ages, but i think that was about his peak, unless my memory is way off. which is quite possible.
Perfecto Fluoro was an absolute banger, donāt care if Oakeyās mixing is off.
Forget Goa which is great, this is easily one the best EMās ever. Wore it out in the car. Work of art

Not the thread for this bilge.
Fucking woeful.
Diggers favourite DJ used to be Oakenfold.
I thought that was Zackster in the cowboy hat? Digging out the latest Surgeon release out of the industrial noise section.
Zack has Bullet in a Gun filed under āclassicsā in his IKEA KALLAX storage unit
Heās got āFight fire with fireā tattooed on his forearm.
Millsy lol. The addition of the Philips Hue light strip really sets it off.
Sasha also played it at Space āthat nightā, but the RITM mix
Had a listen to Sydney CD2. A bit all over the shop for me. Mixing is rough, though Steel Blue and Stargazer got me back into it. I gave up at Words.
BlainSA get 007 CD2 on, or better still 013 CD2! You wonāt regret it!
ScottBailey lol Iāve heard them enough times SB
Going to re-listen to Chris Fortierās Bedrock on the way home today. Remember it being a CD2 winner, but needs tobe confirmed. Hold tightā¦..
Itās a great one. Could not get into it when it was released, it felt too slow and techy. My tastes have refined since.
ScottBailey a great cd 2. Unfortunately it is a 3 disc comp so it does not count
zackster Bedrock was 2. Balance was 3, no?
Yeah, Zachās got his Fortier-mixes wrong. The Balance was superb too mind.
hugopal ah yeah, didnāt even spot that!
Also, CD2 only lists 8 tracks. Looks like Zoe and Fly were late, late editions too
No Humate remix on disc one either, which would have been a big loss
mono-stereo just checked it out - what are you smoking? A few decent tracks but mostly tacky and lacking in character. Nowhere near as many classic tracks as the likes of 007 or Cream Resident.
Also, disc 2 peaks with the Big Brother theme ffs!
ScottBailey Bedrock was 2. Balance was 3, no?
Thought we were talking Balance. I am not at the top of my game currently!
