Hursty I legitimately said after the race that I didn’t really have that much fun and I probably wouldn’t do it again. Here we are 3 days later and I may have changed my mind. I’m sure I could have done 80k if I had started with fresh legs, so that’s why I’m considering taking a shot at getting to 100k in 12 hours next month. It’s a flat course (compared with single track with 50m elevation per loop) and I don’t have to deal with that bloody clock.
What made it difficult was being forced to start again when I could have used another 5 minutes. Having a crew would make all the difference, it was basically a 9 hour blur for me. It’s definitely an interesting format and it was the first time I really got into the pain cave, as my legs felt like cement by loop 3.
That’s a great result on the 50 miler, well done. 100 miles still sounds terrifying to me, but I’m sure you’re prepared for it. Hopefully the weather is good for you.
