Still top drawer though, natch.
The Covid19 WFH Thread
Am a bants machine Dave.
You know that!
I love working from home. I can’t really listen to music in the office, or browse the internet in peace because people always wanna be chatting and doing drive-byes of my desk/office (depending on office setup). I like only dealing with people when I need/want to, and working from home allows for a better work/life balance for me. My commute wouldn’t be too bad, but I’m still glad I don’t have to do it.
how long before we have a retirement thread?
my thoughts exactly. working less the last couple of months seems like the way to go.
Kells77 I can’t help but imagine work aren’t paying you to browse the Internet uninterrupted and enjoy music at your leisure. LOL. The only saving grace for some people at our place is that they browsed the internet more at work.
Along_the_Wire Hahaha….no, probably not, but at the same time I am damn good at my job, and work quickly. Whereas other people in my job (especially where I’m contracting, because I’m the most senior) take much longer to do the same thing. So…I make up that time by browsing the internet and “being available”.
Don’t moan about missing out on promotion, eh?
Along_the_Wire Me? I’m an independent contractor, so there’s no promotion, unless I give it to myself
Kells77 Ever considered making more money? LOL
Along_the_Wire I’m already making quite a bit, but yeah, there’s always room for more
I went into the office for the 2nd time in 4 months this week. We have been split into two different teams, with a one week in, one week out rota. Although we are actively encouraged to stay at home if we can work from home. Going forward, when it’s my week to be ‘in’ I will probably go into the office for 2 of the 5 days available. The commute is 25 minutes and it’s good to actually see some colleagues, albeit at a social distance. Also good to be able to sort paperwork, printing etc out if needed.
Our CEO has started to plan for the next few weeks and suggested that the two team split can end soon, so that you can go into work on any week you like. Still with a work from home message though. Can’t fault my employer at all, they have been superb - flexible hours, provided all equipment needed, rolled out counselling sessions for anyone who needs it. Very fortunate to work for them at the moment.
Sounds awesome GCW.
My company is the same, no pressure to come in but more than welcome to if we want to.
Whatever works best for us.
An open, honest and trusting culture.
Which I think drives performance.
Correct Smallman, culture eats strategy for breakfast
A Purpose driven workforce can achieve wonderful things!
Working from home is the bollocks! Wee seat out the back when it’s warm at lunchtime followed by a nap and a chilled lager in the pm….magic.
