  • usb3 audio interfaces

Mad_Cyril thanks, but it’s missing the audio out connection i need. oddly it’s more expensive than the arturia interface too. i’m honestly not even sure it’ll work. i may just need to go to a shop next week and see what they’ve got.

Total aside here. I’m curious as to whether you really mean USB-C? The new thinner format.

USB 2.0 to 3.1 interface looks the same and plugs into the same port as USB 1 from the 90s and there’s not much in the way of data needed to run a sound card so thought I’d ask before you might get the wrong advice mate.

erik thanks, this is a good option and is on sale here at the moment too.

BlainSA narrowed down to the tascam and the arturia box for now, just have to research them a bit. i’ve got confirmation from someone else that routing the sends to the ipad works, so i’m pretty excited about it.

Ive had a M-Audio M-Track 2×2M for a few years and never had any issues with it. Nice bit of kit and you’d get one second hand now for F-All

IndustryStandard i’ll take a look for used if i can find it, otherwise they have a new ‘air’ model that would work too. thanks.

303abuser no worries… its bloody brilliant for what I use it for mate

so after a bit of research, all of these interfaces use usb bus power which seems like a problem when trying to connect to an ipad. is there any other solution besides running yet another hub between them? i have to imagine that’s going to be a latency nightmare when trying to use it for live fx.

edit: looks like some of the scarlet interfaces will work; a bit more expensive, but better than more adapters

NasserAlazzawi sorry, completely missed your reply. yeah i need usb c out from the ipad pro to an audio interface. it’s basically just a digital/analogue converter because apple are a bunch of cunts and can’t use a standard protocol or just include and audio jack.

i’m loving my new set up, but between the mac mini and the ipad, i’ve spent around $500 on hubs, interfaces, adapters, and cables. the hardware is phenomenal and their business model is pure theft.

ended up getting the m-audio air 192 as it was in stock and works with bus power from the ipad.

after a quick set up, it looks like it’s going to work pretty well. assuming i don’t run into an unexpected problem, which is more than likely at some point. the routing was easy, latency doesn’t seem to be an issue at the moment.

now all i have to do is learn how to us the Aum app and i think i’m done with the hardware set up. this should keep the gas at bay for a while.

after jamming out for an hour (i really should have recorded it), this is the best idea ever. it works as well as i ever could have hoped. i strong encourage anyone thinking about using the ipad for fx to go for it.
