RichM Homegrove surely Putin would have realised this would have happened. Why would any non nato country so close to Russia not want to join NATO? You get comfort that a nutter like Putin won’t invade them next. The lies he is spreading in Russia on the invasion of Ukraine could be used to invade another country. He seems desperate in his actions

NasserAlazzawi I agree countries should be able to join NATO at their own free will. However I thought some agreement was reached in the 90s to stop them from doing so (possibly to prevent more paranoia / conflict like this, IDK). Then everybody did anyway.
LT42 NasserAlazzawi yeah the agreement was that they wouldn’t build up weapons on the Russian border but NATO went and did it anyway albeit the US pushed for it. In other news the Ukrainians sunk the Moskva, the Russian Navy flagship in the Black Sea. Even Russian state media announced it, surprisingly. Huge turning point.
LT42 Mad_Cyril Has it actually gone down then? Hit by 2 missiles at around 1am, on its side with electricity out about 20 minutes later. Gone by 6am. Turkish navy rescued around 50 sailors, although total deaths unknown. 66 officers onboard too.

LT42 Russian MOD now saying all fires have been extinguished and Moskva is being towed to Sevastapol, this is despite the Turkish and Romanian navy ships confirming it went under. The battle for optics goes on.
