    Phil-McRackin The Smiths are an odd family

    They are indeed. But also surprised Chris Rock (or Ricky Gervais at the Globes) hasn’t been dealt similar before - it’s been in the post (even if they are funny).

        bosstrabs First thing that came to mind when i saw the Will Smith Reg was Ricky Gervais thanking his lucky stars he was wasnt at the controls this year

          bosstrabs privileged multi millionaires getting pissed off about a joke isn’t a good look so will normally just laugh through gritted teeth. Hope it doesn’t make these things even more boring than they usually are in the future.

            Apparently, Will Smith was there during rehearsals day before when Rock made the same joke and didn’t react.

              He was laughing when Chris Rock said it. Until he saw the look on wifey’s face

                Doubt this was rigged, no chance Chris Rock, as a comedian, would agree to it. He was humiliated on another level. And the last thing comedy needs is copycat Will Smiths running up stage beating people because they don’t like a joke.

                Joke was cheap and in poor taste, but did not deserve that reaction.

                  Old-Dutch I thought that was just the hasty editing done in the US broadcast - the aussie and chinese broadcasts have the full thing where he’s not? (Dunno, not watched)

                      Wally He laughs at the joke, Jada makes a face. And then it cuts to Rock, who says it “wasn’t thaaaat bad”, and then sees Will Smith walking up to him…

                        If Will Smith’s crying like a bitch after he sits back down was fake then he should be in contention for another Oscar.

                        His reaction to Millsy’s favourite rapper, Diddy, is even more bizarre, fake laughing like a psychopath:

                          alistair Don’t be so literal. All I’m saying is, Will Smith wouldn’t dare do that if it was Ricky Gervais who made that joke. Make of that what you will.

                            Good on Will Smith standing up for his wife like that. Gervais attacked the privileged & guilty, Chris Rock attacked a fucking woman with hair loss ffs. Fuck him, Smith is an absolute legend for doing that, he shoulda knocked his teeth right out.

                            No surprise at certain individuals criticising this proud Black man.
