  • Pilton...I mean Glasto' Festival

alistair …summarised perfectly by a tweet just below that one:

Singers. Singing in tune. That’s important

  • Dan replied to this.

Fontaines DC were very good (set on iplayer). Seems like the sound on the other stages is much better than the Pyramid.

    Heno Blawen

    Blawan

Heno was really good took no prisoners, still the best party going

what a surprise, pretty much the only proper techno act on the bill is the only decent show

Dan she’s 78 and the definitive Motown female star. She’s not auditioning for X Factor

Kendrick Lamar worthy of the headliner billing. Bitch don’t kill my vibe sounding fierce

alistair …Macca’s 80 and can still hold a note.

I like Diana Ross, was looking forward to her set, but whether she’s ā€˜the definitive Motown star’ or not, it’s not inaccurate to say her voice is shot. Thankfully, her backing singers and the crowd knew the tunes, so, hey ho…

Echo Saw them at Brixton last year. Beats kicked more live than on their albums and light show was nearly as good as the Chems. Atlas and Apricots were highlights

Unbroken1 sure, it was far from vintage but it was fun and she looks and moves great for 78. I had more of a problem with her set list. When you have a back catalogue as good as hers why play any covers

…honesty couldn’t get past the voice for long enough to assess the song choices. The crucifixion of ā€˜Love Hangover’ ended it for me.

I think most people will forgive a song in a different key or letting backing singers pick up a high note when performers reach a certain age, but as a legendary soul singer you are really exposed when you can’t carry the tune.

hugopal typo ! Wrecked tired, was loads other good shit on to, Pyramid stage isn’t great but the rest more then makes up for it

          alistair

Doesn’t sound like she brought joy to anywhere near 100 thousand people according to the Twitter feeds of many attendees.

            Heno

I saw the clip on the news of her and McCartney and Grohl and was just thankful id avoided the whole cringe fest.

Cankles-McJeggings I agree completely, the main stage is geared for the bbc sitting at home in your back garden wearing a rain jacket watching it, but there’s so many really good things on that has something for everything it’s one of the few things i would still pay into

Sam Fender shat all over all of them anyway. Just listened to his whole set on R1. Absolutely nailed it really. What a talent for his age. 🤜🐓

Yeh pretty impressive to take on such a big gig and end up owning the show.

Elbow are a mystery. Awful shite.

I feel like I shouldn’t like this. But do!

Whenever I hear Kendrick Lama’s name mentioned it reminds me of this….1.03 mark.

                seanc80

Haha that’s funny because I was really tempted to abuse him in that Twitter post of his with almost exactly what you just said šŸ˜‚

What he plays is just fucking rubbish.

Did a remix of Dolphin Love which, to be fair, is excellent.

Everything…. and i mean eveveryting else, is bollox.

Have to say he delivered at Bugged Out with Soulwax and Dusky at Printworks in 2019. His Phantasy record label is very good (Daniel Avery, Palms Trax, Terr, Red Axes et al).

That is a cracking tune (as is the original).

His sets at Bugged Out at The End were a lot of fun.

This is also a good remix of his; I’ve heard it go off in the past:

alistair I like his set of Italo classics at Homoelectric.

nicksneddon I know what you mean. The kids seemed to be enjoying it though.

At this point I reckon it would be better if they split the main stages off from the rest of the festival with an electric fence.

alistair Erol can fuck off - McCartney was shit - he even admitted it and said he didn’t care - I left after 90 minutes along with thousands of others. Wank. Only caught the last couple of Roisin Murphy because of him. The excrutiating name-drop drivel inbetween songs, and that song in memory of Lennon? 🤮

ā€œHow can you slag off a 78 year old legend when 80k people were having the time of their lives? You are wrong.ā€ seems to be the message I’m seeing. 80k people having the time of their lives? Fuck right off. All the people down the front maybe and a few more scattered throughout. The majority just glad to be in a field steamed up without a mask on and would’ve stood there no matter who was playing.
