If you mean the 4k one yes unless there’s something really recently? I only use it to beam YouTube and redbull tv to the telly though so probably not utilitising it. And yes I’m aware I can do that on the TV itself but I’m far too lazy.

I have had Chromecast Ultra for about 5 years now, and have been happy with it, it supports 4K, but not Apple TV+ which I’d like get every once in awhile. The reason I bought Chromecast was the smart tv-stuff in my old Blu Ray player got unsupported by Samsung. It’s the reason relying on Smart TV apps is not good for the long haul, unless you switch tvs every three years. They eventually stop updating them. I’m perfectly happy with the old Panasonic we have, not going to upgrade before it dies. The picture quality is absolutely perfect for movies, so warm.

Along_the_Wire just checked the price, our TV used to cost 2400 £ new, so at the time it was definitely top of the line. We bought it for 50 € used six years ago from my father in law’s rich friend who was just happy to not have to recycle it himself when they bought a new TV. For probably about 2k again. We should probably ask him if he’s upgrading again soon. 😃

Would a 4K TV with WebOS work with the Ugoos if it was just used to play files held on an external hard drive via the USB port? Or is there a non-Android alternative that would be better in case I decided to stream ad well?

Just bought a PS5 and watch Netflix through that, on a hideously oversized wall hung Xiaomi TV that’s about 168 inches.

Why not go the PS5 route then you have a decent console as well?

At the end of the day Chromecast is for TVs that have zero minerals. I’m pretty sure my TV sets my Chromecast to shame. Other than sending pics and vids from the pixel app I’m pretty sure it’s redundant. In short buy a better telly. They cost fuck all now anyway. 👍👍

Yeh TVs to me nowadays are like a disposable item. They become obsolete so quickly and it infuriates me so much they have to go once they stop playing the game. They start upstairs, get downgraded to downstairs then out the door.
I bought my 2nd CC last year. So probably gen 2 and not the latest? What the newest have to offer gen 2 doesn’t?

Cankles-McJeggings it sort of works as a home screen. You see stuff from all your streaming services your order on the Chromecast’s home page, without having to go to said service to browse it. Similar when you open the Google TV app on your phone. And support for Apple TV+.

I had a q6 Samsung , cost around 2k aud and we came to sell it about a year later and didnt get anyone interested even at 800 and it was mint. Ended up getting 500.

I failed Black Friday, and bought us the new Chromecast instead of the Nvidia. First impressions are very good. 49 €. I can finally watch Apple TV+ without a laptop.

Derm and rhouses double dropped 2 hours ago and went to the shops holding hands, talking about sasha san fran and haven’t been seen since! Scott’s outside shouting “hendo, hendo, hendo” and wondering why he hasn’t been allowed in!
