Not sure if Derm will be able to answer that.

Yep bubble jackets and trainers were being taken from lads and girls. Never seen anything like it before or after.

Cankles-McJeggings I imagine Sean felt safe as houses in most clubbing environments unless it was a glam rock night.

Boring. Couple of little ones in melbs that are good and family in briz was. Haven’t been in yonks. Sydney leaves me cold. Metro theatre probably the best but has to be chockers. I come from a different era obvs and they just don’t cut it compared to what I grew up with. Spoiled back then see. My haunts were the hac, Lazerdome, venue 44, the bomb in Notts ( best club ever), the garage in Notts, Venus in Notts, Angels in Burnley (part of an underground carpark), The corn exchange in Leeds, The academy in Stoke, Home in Manchester, The Que club in brum. Fabric, The Arches kings cross, The Arches in Sheffield, The leadmill Sheffield, Bakers in Brum, Paloma’s in Wolverhampton. If you’ve grown up with that kind of quality it’s hard to get excited about anything in Australia.

Both my brother’s lived there in the halcyon years and obvs I’m a Leeds fan so was there a lot of weekends. Did lots of UYR at the corn exchange for the Soak nights in 93. Didnt like Hard times or Basics too housey and handbag. To be honest the pilgrimage to Leeds was only for Sasha and digweed. But some of the guests with them were immense.

Did you go to Sasha 12 nights of summer residency at UYR in 95? At the something rooms?? Can’t remember but it was in a shopping mall and the hottest club known to man. We went to about 7 or 8 of them. Some of the most fucked in a club nights I’ve ever been. The supply of drugs was absolutely mental. Must have been a pre requisite!

Pleasure rooms the place was called.

alistair I went to the University of Leeds for three years

Not sure I knew that - so that’s you, Dave and I all Leeds alum.

The nightlife was def a major selling point of the Uni.

alistair I was a teenager at school in Leeds then. Into indie / Brit pop.

Didn’t get dance music until at least 96. And even then cheesy crap.

Cankles-McJeggings yes I went twice. Remember it well at the Pleasure Rooms. BT in the box with Sasha when he dropped Embracing the Future and him playing his brand new remix of Lost in Love. Remember pulling a cracker at one of them too pilled off our nuts

Cankles-McJeggings sounds like you were the smallman1 of the early 90s and onwards I.e at the coalface every weekends!

Hats off to you, some clubbing cv that

          alistair

Yes.i was at that night. He was waving the 12 of loving you more above his head with his arm round bt. Then dropped both mixes of it back to back. Was some finale. The place was that hot it was raining off the ceiling with sweat.

What a blast from the past. Always pictured Stu Allan as a powerfully built bald man.

3 hours of your life you’ll never get back.

            Thank fuck for the drugs!

Wow . That’s a blast from the past. The building was I imagine solid 60s brutalist concrete. I reckon the walls must have been 3ft thick. It was literally the basement of a multi story carpark. If you look in the vids you can see the raw concrete, the piles and the electrical conduits on the roof. The bass was just sucked into the walls. One of the best soundsystems in UK clubs for sure. Such and underrated club too, I reckon most of the best djs played there early to mid 90s. The 1st time Sasha played there is probably in my all-time top 3 nights.
Was wondering if it would still be there now as it would probably be hard to level. This could be it on Google maps. The entrance sign seems to still be there. Might not be, it’s hard to tell but looks quite similar. Suppose it could be the front door plus 30 years of additional concrete and reno’s. If it is it’s mad to think the club would still be down there in the bowels of the building structurally unchanged apart from the lights and sound system missing.I’m sure someone told me it got levelled though but maybe not.
