At the siege of Castle Gaillard in 1204, King Phillip of France and his forces set upon its occupants with many traditional battle tactics, some more successful than others. But historians now believe that it was Phillip’s decision to launch Sir Jay of Loopdoktor’s collection of tramp trabs over the ramparts that saw the occupants flee and led to the castle’s eventual sacking in 1205.
