  • The whole energy crisis thing

It’s probably all part Putin’s plan. Cut the gas pipeline to Europe which would drive up the cost causing people into fuel poverty as payback for supporting Ukraine.

Along_the_Wire yeah… point I was making a while back though is that retail energy providers aren’t the problem .. the original source of the problem is Putin, but it’s true that BP etc are benefiting

Dubman yeah he is hoping support wavers… hope we don’t cave in, but is the man on the street going to be calling for that when he can’t afford his heating bills?

It’s Flares sat alone in his bedsit living off his £2 a month royalties for having a filler track on Communicate that I really feel for in these tough times.

Some poor misguided halfwits will still be absolving Putin of blame whilst freezing in their bedsits, eating beans over the winter. It’s the fucking Tories!

    • Amps replied to this.

wholesale gas prices are dropping, or were at the end of the week. Germany has got more reserves than thought. Still about 5x normal for december delivery though

benson they dropped a bit last week but even then were nine times higher than the historical average. Was before Russia turned off supply

alistair Dropped 30% in 5 days and I would assume the NordStream 1 shutdown was factored in.

benson it’s suspension was only reported in the FT yesterday so it wasn’t “factored in”. Let’s see what happens to prices this week

alistair yeah risk is gas prices go lot higher again… by the way Putin completely cut off gas on Friday because the G7 implemented a price cap on Russian oil. Hard to fathom the reasoning for doing this when I would have thought the G7 wasn’t importing much oil from Russia in the first place… The West has probably shot itself in the foot unfortunately

benson don’t think markets were expecting gas flows to drop to zero, and certainly not this soon

Morty-C-137 Any cat has 10x the amount of test you do smallballs

When was the last time a cat ledged the bants?

              Case closed.

We’re a wealthy country, we only get 4% of our gas from Russia, all the political cunts have shares in the oil / gas / energy companies. The whole thing is a con.

Amps BP pays a nice dividend, its open to retail also.

The scam is the gas for sure, but local oil firms are quick to up their prices yet very slow to drop them, here current it’s £520 for 500 litres, when Brent is slightly just above pre war levels. I agree this is fk all to do with Russia at this point, 50% renewable energy in some parts of the UK and Ireland yet x5 electricity prices.

So many small things you can do at home to save energy, but if you have a big family certainly worth looking into solar panels, you can recoup around £300 a year on what you don’t use that goes back in the grid, you also get free hot water so no need to use the boiler. 3 or 4 years at this rate will have them paid off.

I like that reality was like “yo what if the Running Man was like boring?”

                  8 days later

Ireland and Scotland are over 50% it’s really helping lol.

My electric is going up to 53p per kwh on the 7th, I’ve bought as much as I can afford of the old rate of 40p per kwh.

I’ll tell you something for nothing, if the trillions being “saved by the world” are at the expense of the energy firms, it ain’t happening

I’ve already placed the orders 🥺

I love how at no point in this thread anyone is like “but guys - shouldn’t we be trying to live more sustainably anyway? shouldn’t the floods in Pakistan and the melting of the ice worry all of us? What about Cop26, lads? What about the penguins?”

Nope. It’s just “bent politicians, tax the rich, I want more, more, more”

C_J Also China is prob pumping out more Co2 per hour than all individual households can save over a year. How do you compete with that?

I think most people try to be more sustainable, but realistically there limits to what we can achieve with what we have at our disposal (great word to use here lol)

The biggest way we can be more sustainable comes with clean(er) energy, but the big boys won’t be looking at this seriously until they’ve rinsed every natural resource from the planet first.

When we get cleaner energy, from wind farms etc. we know it is much cheaper to be produced as we have already paid for the materials, plants etc. through our green taxes. Will it be given to us cheaper? Will it fuck.

I moved to Bulb a year ago from Eon as I wanted to move to a completely renewable company. I could have fixed in with Eon for 2 years at roughly the same price I had been paying at the time (£115 a month). Bulb only have one tariff - a variable tariff - my bills are now £280 a month and will be going up further in October.

I have just taken this from the Bulb webpage:
“Every year, like all suppliers, we report on the amount of electricity we’ve purchased from which source: coal, gas, nuclear and renewables. For Bulb, it’s simple: 100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources like solar, wind and hydro.”

Yet it costs the same as the energy that comes from non-renewable sources. A scam.

                        Old-Dutch
Fuck them off and write them
                        a snotty letter explaining why.

                        That’ll teach them!

Massive cunts trick in all seriousness

Starting to think about weapons for the Revolution.

Current thinking is one of those shotguns that looks like a trumpet and one of those things that’s basically a meat-cleaver on a long stick
