It seems highly unlikely Marco Longhi bought that pub considering he’s been publicly lambasting the police for not carrying out a thorough enough investigation of the fire, and been urging them and the Council to do more:

"Dudley MP Marco Longhi said a lack of information from authorities had “raised animosity” in the local community.

In an open letter to Chief Constable Chris Noble of Staffordshire Police, Mr Longhi, Conservative MP for Dudley North, asked for more information to be made public, given the speed of demolition.

“As an MP even I am not encouraged by the way matters were dealt with by the relevant authorities,” he wrote.

“If the police are investigating the fire incident, then why would the site be demolished whilst the police are conducting their enquiries, which may possibly require a forensic examination to gather evidence?”

Staffordshire Police has yet to respond to Mr Longhi’s comments, but said its investigation was continuing and that it was looking at “all of the available evidence” into the cause of the blaze, which has not yet been established.

Alongside Dudley Council Patrick Harley, Mr Longhi has also written to the leader of South Staffordshire Council, urging the local authority to carry out a “complete and thorough” investigation and asked the local authority and police to “use any levers within their remit”."

          The Telegraph are reporting that the owners even began renting the same digger used to knock the building down just one week prior to the blaze.
          The Times article states that they recently destroyed woodland on another site they own nearby. It also states they tried to buy a neighbouring farm to the pub site for ÂŁ1mil.
          The Sun article and LBC mention they recently bought and immediately gutted another pub nearby to turn in to rental accommodation.

          But no - the “main suspect” is the big bad local Tory MP who has spoken out against the act - all because some lunatic on twitter said so and I have to automatically believe they’re the root of all evil.
