I have an awards yoke this evening with work and i had to buy a black suit earlier today for it. Got me thinking. Is it now acceptable to veer away from the traditional black suit, black bowtie and white shirt., or is a change of colour for the occasion still the hallmark of Zaney Mike the finacial controller or other complete jizztards?
Try to invest a granule of common sense into the question.

This is, afterall, very important research.

Are you up for an award? I assume attendance is mandatory.

Always worked for Christopher Biggins

Black all the way imo. Other colours are for Mike Hunt office idiot. I bought a d&g one last year and I looked fucking mint. Only thing is any decent suit ages badly. I bought an Armani one 5 years ago and it looked all kinds of wrong when I tried it on at xmas. I also bough a Paul smith one for my bros wedding in 2012 and I could easily set fire to it than ever be seen dead in it again.

I have a few like this, tempted to see if I can find a big enough BERK to buy them on Ebay

The cut of the trousers are the deal breaker. When I bought the Armani one I thought to myself ‘fuck me this is going to last me years’. Luckily I put it on around start of December just gone to check and couldnt actually believe how bad it looked in such a relatively short time. The trousers were horrific. My work suit is more acceptable. People do collect decent suits from well known designers.

I’m generally in agreement, in that very dark with white is proper - as opposed to some absolute BERK who busts a red ‘tux’ (it’s usually an American) or something. However, midnight blue has always been acceptable if you want something a tiny bit different, and apparently the original garms favoured by Edward VII were midnight blue rather than black, so you always have that defence if someone tries to rip you for it.

I bought a midnight blue t-shirt not long ago that I was convinced was black. My Mrs told me not that long ago it was dark blue. FML

The traditional UK police tunic was also such a dark blue that it appeared almost black. Hence, the ‘boys in blue’ of course.

*Not the modern paramilitary-looking cunts, who are now actually wearing black.

That would actually be seen to be acceptable etiquette, because a person’s national dress is formal and black tie is only semi-formal.

Millsy I may i look like a buffoon but can you imagine the speed at which i can access my flute and town-halls?

Not sure I follow, how does a good suit look bad very quickly? Is this down to the ever increasing rotundness of the purveyor?

Hursty I also share in this view, especially when it comes to Dermo. His ‘classically timeless’ Tag Heur is another good example. I’m picturing a suit that resembles something out of this Color Me Badd video.

          Hursty
          It’s quite simple.

Designer brand suits tend to be cut in line with current ‘trend’.

Unlike the Next ones Millsy wears that are cut from the same template year in year out

Mad_Cyril Ah right, straight over my head, not into “fashion” here either as you have probably picked up on

Mad_Cyril lol. Those trabbs of yours are straight out of the Next catalogue you daft shambles.
