Unbroken1 am now more tempted by Sri Lanka than Caribbean, especially as cost of hotels for 2 weeks in Caribbean looks to be £7k-£10k, and they don’t look that great (think I’ve been spoiled by quality of hotels in SE Asia for a quarter of the price)

Going to do some research on 2 weeks in Sri Lanka, most of it by the beach but 3-4 days more central

RichM It’s got ridiculous expensive in the Caribbean. My entire trip to Sri Lanka I reckon will be sub £3k for 3 weeks.

Shangri-La Hambantota is a great hotel if you’re thinking about visiting the south coast of Sri Lanka. The sea can get a bit choppy but it’s a good laugh watching newbies lose thier sunglasses after being smacked by a wave.

gcw my son will me almost 6 when we go, and because of that we will prob only do Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and then one water park. Not worth going Universal as I’ll be the only one able to do rides (my wife will be 6 months pregnant).

Thanks for the heads up re fast pass. I’m going in fully aware it’s a rip off but we do enjoy Florida in the main so should be a good trip

vinnyt77 Agreed, I am proper organised with avios and vouchers and discounts etc but BA holidays is now 60-70% more expensive for the same holiday compared to 4 years ago. Business class is always completely full so still plenty of leisure travel money being spent

On the subject of business class, managed to snag a couple of Club World tickets to New York next month in the BA sale using the old Avois points, which was nice.

mono-stereo or massively organised and book at 355 days out. What better excuse to hit spoons on a Sunday night than the need to stay up to snag the tickets as soon as they come out at midnight 🙂

I’m sure you will all be pleased that I finally sorted out my holiday. As much as Sri Lanka looks great (will do it one day) we’ve opted for 10 days in Mauritius in Feb, mainly due to the return business class flights for £400 each, and a decent deal on hotel. Means it’s not a blow out holiday so we can do some other trips this year. Got South Africa planned for Dec and looking at a Lisbon & Porto trip and maybe Norway.

Can’t wait for some sun and beach action for 10 days. Anyone got any tips for Mauritius?

Along_the_Wire BA. Been smashing the Amex for a while now so built up a decent chunk of avios, plus companion flights. Turns out phoning them also give you better deal than online.

No idea what business class is like with them, prob not great, but got to be better than economy for a 12 hour flight

RichM Nice work on the old avois. It’s the way forward. Sounds like an excellent deal.

Both old and new club world seats fold out flat. Some prefer the new version but they’re both great imo.
