Woman enters the clinic. Hung high on the walls around the room are pictures of women kissing each other with DJ headphones on.
Dr. Hugo Spengemann: What seems to be the problem?
Woman: I think I have flu.
Dr. Hugo Spengemann: What are your symptoms?
Woman: I have a sore throat, a runny nose and I’m very tired.
Dr. Hugo Spengemann: Onfluenza (flu) and the common cold are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses. Flu is caused by influenza viruses only, whereas the common cold can be caused by a number of different viruses, including rhinoviruses, parainfluenza, and seasonal coronaviruses. Seasonal coronaviruses should not be confused with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Flu is worse than your common cold, and symptoms are typically more intense and begin more abruptly. People with colds are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose than people who have flu. Flu can have serious associated complications.
The symptoms of flu are feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and fatigue (tiredness). Your symptoms indicate to me you only have a common cold. People with colds are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose. Colds generally do not result in serious health problems.
Dr. Hugo Spengemann stares dead-eyed at woman for prolonged period
Woman cries and runs out of the clinic.
