hugopal Yes, mate, but why though?

Is it because “‘dem niggas just like killin’ folks?”

Or is it because they are so utterly disenfranchised by the system ?

Do you think those numbers would stay the same if blacks and ethnic minorities were truly equal? Not just “treated as equal” or “officially equal”, but truly seen as equal by everyone?

i’m fairly sure they wouldn’t.

It’s fucking pathetic. Really is. We will be left with old episodes of garderner’s world and songs of praise once this purge of classic and old tv shows is complete.

    mono-stereo

hugopal Sure, and neither of those include ethnic Europeans.

    lol. Fucking hell.

Hugopal is not inaccurate though is he? Papering over a truth to be politically correct doesn’t improve society either.

There was a time when liberals (I include myself in their number) challenged abhorrent practices based on universal values, regardless of the sensitivities of the cultural group who might engage in them.

C_J Is it because “‘dem niggas just like killin’ folks?”

I reckon there are still a lot of people in the world who think that. And I mean actually believe it, not just use it as a convenient excuse.

Amps yeah it’s kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy isn’t it. The more people hold such beliefs the more it is borne out by events.

its obviously a really complex and nuanced topic though. You can’t lay all the blame at the feet of colonial attitudes and there has to be a degree of responsibility taken by the minority communities too of course.

Im not sure how well Obama ultimately served the needs of those communities and I am aware of a viewpoint which argues that BAME households have benefited from Trump’s administration but its hard to sort the fact from fiction isn’t it.

I think that’s another completely fabricated bullet point on the MAGA soundbite challenge. At Trump’s absolute peak of economic heroism the economy only arrived back at where it was under Bush before Obama came in. Plus the jobs numbers use a statistic to inflate the real numbers such as; anyone dropping off the welfare register is added to the jobs list but there are countless reasons for that happening. Becoming a drug dealer (non racist assumption attempt) is one of them or simply dying. They don’t specifically use the numbers from the standpoint of people actually starting new employment. I saw an article by Robert Reich on the subject, I’ll try and find the link, but it’s all very simple manipulation of data.

        This is getting silly now….

          Quoted for posterity.

          6 days later

My company have “designated this Friday as a “Day of Solidarity” to celebrate Juneteenth, urging its employees to spend the day learning about the history of racism and taking steps to fight injustice.

So I’m on the beers now, which is nice.

            Hursty

Another absolute shit show mate. So uncle Ben only made the lovely rice because he was a slave for some white folk and it’s not fair to make money from that eh?
