-si- …Obama is so fucking bang-on in that BBC clip, the problem with ‘woke’-ness and cancel culture is that it ends all debate, and fuck-all ever gets sorted out when that happens.

Transphobic piece of shit. She’s a horrible person.

That list is a fucking joke, full of people who have tried (and sometimes succeeded) in getting people fired from their jobs for something they’ve said. Bari Weiss for example got started for trying to get Palestinians kicked out of US universities.

The article states “her controversial stance on the transgender community, which critics have called transphobic” - some people on twitter accusing her of being “transphobic” is not proof of her actually being transphobic.

I was curious if you were actually capable of pinpointing the exact part of her stance which can reasonably be defined as “transphobic” and not just a stance on the issue which you disagree with.

“Transphobia” can obviously exist, but I wanted to see you if you can specify exactly what she’s said which justifies that tag; the article you posted doesn’t do that.

Kells77 as per my response to Hannu above, the accusations referenced in that article, while accusing her of transphobia, don’t actually demonstrate that she’s transphobic. If she is, the article doesn’t prove it.

Also, Hannu was the person accusing her of being transphobic - he should supporting on what basis making such an accusation is valid. I wanted to hear what he had to say in justifying his claim. I’m already aware of the Rowling/trans debate btw, I just wondered how Hannu had managed to come to his conclusion.

hugopal Well to be fair, how do you “prove” someone’s transphobic, other than judging their words and actions?

But I get your point. I think it’s just that the question was received in a confrontational manner, given some of your other banter on here. Hannu’s allowed his opinion, he’s provided the source for his conclusion, and there’s no REAL way to prove she is or she isn’t, so I’m not sure there’s anything else that can be provided.

To be honest, I can understand why burds wouldn’t want somebody with an adam’s apple and a massive swinging lob-on wandering into their changing rooms and then telling everyone in there it was their right to be there.

That doesn’t make me transphobic. That is just my reflection on the cold, hard experience of being removed from women’s changing rooms.

bosstrabs That is just my reflection on the cold, hard experience of being removed from women’s chan

Ceiling tiles aren’t as robust as they look are they Dave

Kells77 there’s no REAL way to prove she is or she isn’t

And yet we have absolute mental cases whose ability to present cold, hard facts come in the form of sharing tweets, happy to label her as a transphobic piece of shit. I’m just playing devils advocate on here as per but the shit people get away with now under the banner of fighting for social justice is staggering. That’s not a rant at you, Kells. Just pointing out a fact.

i’ve followed nothing about this jk rowling story, but from those tweets, is she not just identifying a difference between biological sex and gender identification?

Careful now 303, you’ll be getting a ku klux Klan hood in the JC secret Santa at this rate…

Think this is more another example of cancel culture types getting mortally offended at someone expressing an opinion.

One should be able to discuss ‘difficult subjects’ without being screamed at because your view doesn’t comply with someone elses

Kells77 Hannu’s allowed his opinion, he’s provided the source for his conclusion,

He didn’t present it as “his opinion” though - he outright called her “transphohic” (not that if he’d have framed it as just his opinion it would have been much less questionable).

As Mad Cyril and si indicate above, Hannu’s accusation is demonstrative of exactly one of the key issues which the letter is pointing out - people are throwing around what are serious allegations as casually and mindlessly as a batty woman chucking bits of stale bread to pigeons, and furthermore people are subsequently believing them and acting on them. The article Hannu posted is not sufficient enough to justify making such a significant and nasty claim.

              Words have meaning and consequences.
