Amps the problem with that is that it throws up a load of benign findings that then get investigated. Which is pointless.
We call them incidentalomas. Incidental finding of something completely harmless.
Speak to a plastic surgeon who does melanoma work and they will tell you to get a mole check every 3 months. A colorectal surgeon will tell you to watch for bowel cancer etc etc.
I’ve found 2 cancers in patients waiting for hip surgery who were anaemic. They had bowel cancer. But I see hundreds of patients with anaemia every year.
GPs get blamed for missing stuff. But it’s really hard. Even in suspected cancer clinics - we call them 2 week wait clinics - only 4% of people referred have cancer.
Unexplained weight loss, fatigue and night sweats are probably the big three in terms of non-specific symptoms.
Scanning yourself every year will just add to health anxiety.
