Used to goto a few shops in London back in the early days. Dub vendor for reggae plus a few others. A mate was into D’n’B and used to buy from the shop where Ray Keith used work. But overall I found London not that good. Brighton used to be very good. Even my hometown of Worthing had a few decent record record shops. Always found 3beat to be very good even though I never actually went there as I used to get them posted after Steve Parry used to sort me out. Is it still going.
Dubman Is it still going.
Think they tried to turn it into a shop / bar type thing and have had issues with the council. No idea where it’s up too.
IndustryStandard no sign of him, think he was DJing abroad that weekend.
Dan he seems to DJ in Acanteen now and again and it seems strange that he will be in there on the decks midweek whilst people are having dinner, and 99% of the people would have no idea who he is
RichM Saves him forking out £150 odd and probably plays the right music in his gaff…. at the right time.
Amps How big was it. Some of the shops used to be so small.
Dubman Dunno, my assumption is they expanded into another unit or used the upstairs office space.
Amps Sorry mate. I thought you used to go there personally.
Does it have a lounge and if yes, what’s it like?
Dubman Sorry mate. I thought you used to go there personally.
I did, to buy records, lots of them, when it was just a record store, but I haven’t been since before they tried to do something else with it so I don’t know what it now looks like.
Amps That’s what I meant. 25 years ago.
Dubman & Amps
3Beat got the boot from the unit a couple of years ago. The owner was hosting raves in the shop during lockdowns and got busted. Oops
This is going well.
I wonder if Dubbers still plays vinyl?
A load of good stuff I wanted this morning and queued early - it was fucking freezing. Got about 15 bits and only a couple of things that I wanted gone. It was mobbed and it’s got fucking expensive all of a sudden
Old-Dutch Was surprised an independent record shop was still going. Especially when vinyl sales especially in dance are probably fairly low. We had three independent record shops in my home town. They’ve all gone and all we have now is HMV.
I’m trying to offload my vinyl! Not add to it.
1200+ to go!
Call me a cynical cunt, but there’s something very ‘artisan market’ about the vinyl revival.
Mad_Cyril I quite like playing vinyl. Judging by the state of the tramps in the queue this morning, I’d say you’re off the mark

As if you’re not first in line on a Sunday at your local artisan market to buy your weekly vegan, sourdough, low carb, fair trade baps.

Homeless chique. Russell Brand is the pied piper.
Along_the_Wire Are you in HMV?
Along_the_Wire I quite like playing vinyl.
Fair enough. I wouldn’t call you new in though.
Take a look at some of the Whoppers on My Analog Journal, playing an hour of Uzbekistani Skiffle though, and there’s more than a whiff
whatever baps
