                  The source is Haaretz which is basically the most left-wing anti-zionist newspaper that copies Hamas numbers, and simply claims “In Israel it is estimated” - without specifying who in Israel is doing this estimate and what the source is for that.

                  It could simply be that a couple of their journalists - who are in Israel - made that estimate, and it could therefore be reported by them that there are people in Israel who estimate the number.

                                      As far as I can tell those death figures are pretty much accepted by both sides. It’s something like 0.65% of the entire population, which is obviously horrifying.

                                      The key thing to remember though is that Hamas inflicted this on the Palestinian people when they deliberately targeted and massacred women and children. Normal Palestinians never wanted this and they need to be liberated from Hamas, which sadly means violence since you famously can’t negotiate with these people.
