My only expertise lies in a “Peace & Conflict in the Middle East” class I took in college two decades ago, and while the teacher was relatively neutral, she was also Arab-American. I remember we were taught that the Israel-Palestine conflict was born from a lot of shady wheeling and dealing by the British after the WWII. Not the same as Indian partition, but definitely parallels.
I’ve found myself siding with the Palestinians over the years, maybe because of the colour of my skin and that I’ve only had positive experiences with Arab culture. The atrocities faced by the Palestinians over the last 50 years also seem to far outweigh what the Jewish people have faced. I still think about the murder of that female journalist from a couple years back.
Also not sure how much I can trust from what I’m seeing on the Internet - not taking away from the tragedy or the sheer horror, but what is obviously a drug filled psy trance party is being branded all over the media as a “peace festival”.
