jonattonyeah Dixon has always brought it every time I’ve seen him. His recorded sets don’t quite paint the right picture. He can really work a soundsystem and his mixing is right up there. He’s a top drawer DJ.
deadhead Ok, now I actually have expectations… thanks fam, you were supposed to bring those down a bit so I get to be blown away at the gig
jonattonyeah deadhead He gives no shits so the tempo might be 125 when he starts. Doesn’t matter. He’ll pitch it down to 110. It can be a bit jarring from an energy standpoint. But give him time and the dude will have the floor going.
LT42 jonattonyeah I experienced that 1st hand and it was an awful move on his part. He never regained the momentum and effectively ended the night/morning for everyone. He’s a good DJ but I’d question his reading of a crowd after that. Everyone was well up for it, there for the taking, and he balls it up.
LT42 Smallman1 No doubt. Guys at his level should be all rounders though imho. Especially with the rep he comes with.
Smallman1 LT42 Guys at his level should be all rounders though imho. Especially with the rep he comes with. Yep, very true.
alistair ScottBailey I have been critical about Luzoscura and some of his lockdown sets but he’s still magic live and in the right setting. His 8 hour Fabric set the other week was a revelation
ScottBailey alistair I’ve never doubted his abilities behind the decks. The man’s been at it for over 30 years so he should be proficient at his craft. It’s his taste in music that’s lost me. Maybe it’s to my own detriment that I haven’t moved with him in terms of the music I mostly like and listen to, but I’d rather enjoy what I’m listening to rather than feel the need to move with the times and find new sounds that other people aren’t playing (which he’s always professed to seeking). Doesn’t matter to me how much better a good sound system makes a track sound compared to on a recording, if it’s still crap, it’s still crap. Subjective obs…
LT42 alistair but he’s still magic live and in the right setting. Jaysus, Ali, it wasn’t long ago you were posting about “fan boys” and how shite he was when people on here were saying the exact same thing. One gig and you’re like his social media manager. LEAVE IT OOOOUUTTT!!
alistair ScottBailey fair enough, best to judge him live I feel. He confounded my expectations (not for the first time).
ScottBailey alistair best to judge him live You missed my point. What good is seeing him live if the music he’s playing isn’t in my wheelhouse in the first place. I’m sure even stuff like ABBA or the Beegees sounds sonically good on a Funktion1 (or other top soundsystem). The point is, it’s still awful. Why would I pay top reddies to witness that now?!
Smallman1 The only place to see Sasha is Fabric, plays totally different music there to anywhere else. Handy for me living in London, probably not so handy if you live in Adelaide or somewhere like that.
LT42 Smallman1 The only place to see Sasha is Fabric, plays totally different music there to anywhere else. This used to drive Flares up the wall. Most likely because he never saw him there, but he did eat crab claws with Claudia Schiffer at The Ivy so he knew his prog onions.
