  • Election 2024: The Fate of Democracy

Itā€™s depressing that this year we will end up dealing with the shit show of trump all over the media again. I do understand that a country the size of the US can only produce candidates like Biden and Trump to run for POTUS, just wish the rest of us could block it all out and let you guys in the US deal with the shit show alone

Whatā€™s the deal with Nikki Haley? I assume she can at least point at Europe on a map, given her background.

Sheā€™s a psycho neocon. Well up for war and the status quo. She has no shot, which is a good thing.

If you watch his IOWA speech heā€™s toned things down a fair bit, seems to be gaining ground outside of his normal Base of voters.

      Drill drill drill!

Itā€™s all getting rather tiresome, so four more years of the shitshow is a frankly horrible prospect. And itā€™s infecting world politics too. Grim all round and a hiding to absolutely nothing

Funky If you watch his IOWA speech heā€™s toned things down a fair bit, seems to be gaining ground outside of his normal Base of voters.

Heā€™s said Washington DC is a ā€œrat infested shite holeā€, and that magnets donā€™t work when you dump water on them. Heā€™s off the rails and I am absolutely loving it!

bosstrabs War is by definition an attempt to change the status quo

Thatā€™s not necessarily true - e.g. you might enter a war because the status quo is under attack and you wish to defend it.

Biden made this happen folks. Dems fault for putting forward a candidate like that but they also put forward that pedo protector Hilary.

Trump has had it lucky with them two, but Hilary everyone knew there was skeletons to come out even back then. Epstein list is full of lefties, as I said before either right or left there is evils lurking. I wouldnā€™t trust any of them. Party political to gain votes and fuck over the common man the entire system needs brought down but even epstein list wonā€™t change a thing.

Our current military endeavors are to protect shipping lanes. If that isnā€™t defending the status quo then idk what is.

DeSantis is a soft cock, aimlessly fucking about like a Paddy Pantsdown Lib Dem.

What you lot need is a proper ā€œbig beastā€ such as the likes of Sir Malcolm Rifkind.

zackster Our current military endeavors are to protect shipping lanes. If that isnā€™t defending the status quo then idk what is

          Yeah.

          Dave.

          Have THAT.

Uhhhh look at me Iā€™m Dave. Uuuuhh Iā€™m fucking gay.

Mad_Cyril both those scenarios validate Daveā€™s comment, both examples are from one sides perspective, ie defending the status quo, which means the other side in the war is trying to change the status quo?

RichM Whilst this is a sensible point RIch, it doesnā€™t quite suit my use case requirements šŸ™„

RichM both those scenarios validate Daveā€™s comment

                  No they do not.

Daveā€™s comment was attempting to claim that there is a contradiction between a person being ā€œwell up for warā€ and supporting ā€œthe status quoā€, a la Nikki Haley - this is false as you can be in favour of war only when it is needed to defend the status quo.

RichM both examples are from one sides perspective

                  Well durrrrr.

That doesnā€™t mean the scenarios donā€™t still demonstrate that itā€™s possible for a person to be both up for war and for maintaining the status quo. A person can continue to hold those views without them being at odds with each other. The perspective of the other side is not needed when evaluating the person in questionā€™s attitude.

Mad_Cyril Whilst this is a sensible point RIch

It is not - donā€™t give it unjust credit.
