  • Election 2024: The Fate of Democracy

I won’t be able to see him in graduation cap… or pink polo, or shudder shades, or little back pack

Old-Dutch yeah all good. Still kinda hot but it’s going away. Think I can go home today.

It is so insane that the Dems are going to once again run the one person whole is uniquely positioned to lose to Trump. If they ran Chillary this go round she’d win handily. Instead we have a senile liar who has become the face of a genocide.

zackster How does Hilary beat Trump? Lost in 2016 and has been out of the public eye since

alistair several reasons why I think she’d win.

      1. Joe is the lest popular president in the past 40 years.
      2. There is a reasonable contingent of people who voted for Don as a laugh in 2016. I think those people would come out for Hill-Dawg now.
      3. She would be SO much better on abortion messaging, which is the only thing the Dems have right now.
      4. Even though she would be just as bad on Palestine as Joe is she would have the ability to run with the message of being removed from it.

Why don’t the Democraps just get some new politicians like other parties do?

bosstrabs They used to be really good at this. The people themselves were dog shit, of course, but at least they gave their base the illusion of progress. Everything changed after the Obungler won. His burring the hatchet with the Clintons certainly contributed to the stagnation. The real set back was when he convinced everyone, except Liz Warren, to drop out and back Joe so that they could once again prevent Bernie from becoming the nominee.

I’d wager he’s still running the show now - Biden certainly isn’t

Old-Dutch its certainly possible. I personally don’t think he is the puppet master that some others do. I genuinely think he just wants to operate in the world he’s built for himself, ie do a shitty podcast with Bruce Springsteen and host parties for Beyonce. The careerists that were birthed off of his terms are the ones that I blame for the desire to maintain the statusquo, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. The Democrats have a fundamental problem. They do not want to give their base the things they want most. It would go against their own interests to fight for healthcare, Wall Street reform, and endless war funding. It’s why I believe they are happy to lose elections, or at the very least lose control of one lever of government. It’s easier for them to fundraise when they can say oooh I’d absolutely give you healthcare, but we just don’t have the power to do so right now. Obama doing nothing, out side of passing a Republican healthcare reform bill, with his super majority was a real wakeup call for my generation and the Dems have still yet to deal with it in a meaningful way.
