There used to be a forum called Gurn.net in the early 2000s and cos everyone was late teens/early 20s it was rife with awful banter. I went to creamfields 03 where Hernan/Sasha plus a large Trance lineup was on and they had a Gurn meetup which I had convinced myself would be awful and the polar opposite was true.
Once I met them they chilled out on the aggro after we all jumped online the following week but I’ve never understood the psychology of even wanting to be a keyboard warrior in the first place its like a chink in someone’s personality.
My cousin ‘got the internet’ at home and had AOL with chat rooms in 1999 which as 13 year olds was proper jazzy. She’s nice / chilled in real life but she started berating strangers in it en masse with the entire rainbow of swear words and a supreme level of profanity - so one day a moderator printed it off, got AOL HQ to write a letter to her mum screenshotting 15 pages of her insults and she promptly began behaving herself after the entire family heard about it.
Maybe there’s a potential solution somewhere in there @mono-stereo 😉
