IndustryStandard I was having a think about this on the way in to work today and you’ve pretty much put into words what was going through my head.

I also don’t think it was a hate thread. Hate is a strong word and I’m not sure the large majority of the posts could be classed as hate. Therefore I feel like @Mad_Cyril was right to say that there should be care taken not to throw everyone under the bus.

But on the flip side of that, the comments SP felt threatened by should’ve (imo) been dealt with on more individual level as I agree the ones he highlighted crossed a line. Maybe something for the mods to consider in future?

It’s good that he’s taken most of it as constructive criticism, and I hope he’s honest in saying it hasn’t diminished his enthusiasm for doing what he’s doing, because it shouldn’t be stifled by a few really bad and unjust posts.

Opinion shouldn’t be repressed though. It would be a strange world if only ‘yes’ was allowed and difference of opinion was repressed.

For the record I actually like what he does, even if it’s a bit over-enthusiastic for my aging brain 😆

I’d agree the term hate thread was an exaggeration, one I unintentionally made. I have no hard feelings to anyone here, and I hope you can all understand where I was coming from in the moment. Nothing truly bothered me besides the threats of confrontations at gigs, which everyone has very kindly dismissed. So I’d rather just put this all behind us and focus back on the music. I’m sure I’ll be posting a lot of content over the next few weeks members of the group don’t agree with or dislike. All criticisms and jokes and whatever are fine, I know it’s not going to result in actual physical confrontations. Be well everyone

This is my hope for this new thread rather than going over it again.

What was said was wrong, it was called out, that was supported very much so by the wider community, the moderator has had to deal with something they shouldn’t have to, and fair play you’ve came here and chatted directly about it too.

Maybe people here have a better idea of the impact that things we say in publicly visible spaces online can have on other people.

It’s done, it’s all good, there are loads of better things to spend time on and discuss so it’s time to move on.

Since when did the board need a reputation. I always felt that the whole point of this place was to rip the piss out of each other without the crybabies. Social Media is infected with sycophants who also have their own hatred and bigoted members. I got kicked out of PFG after one of them posted a video of David Guetta and then went into a load of spiel about his fans being cunts, unlike ‘their boys’ who were the epitome of cool, who unsurprisingly seemed to hate people that didn’t agree with them. Does kissing the tarmac at Twilo make you a bigger fan, or wearing the latest Bedrock T. I see posts whereby they state how Sasha is this amazing person and god like however when I pointed out some of his questionable behaviour, like when he gashed that girls head with a cd in Cardiff, they kicked me out of the group. This place was a haven from all of that.

I think the distinction is that it’s not about piss-taking. Purely about a perception of threatening physical violence. If you’re not sure what is a joke and what’s not — because you’re not familiar with it — I think it is pretty reasonable to worry that you might become a target . We all know that isn’t the case, but others outside the JC bubble might not.
