Smallman1 What with your best in class footwear, top bants, chocolate box good looks and general joie de vivre, I’m sure you’ll have this national crisis sorted in a jiffy!

alistair Venue amazing to look at, but soundsystem was shite unless you stood in exactly the right spot.

I did the odd night, depending on who was playing. The Manor and Maison @ The Showbar were the defining nights for me.

I was a few years too late to get into Madisons. The family household was on the same road as The Manor (KLANG) so that was my sanctuary from 1997 onwards

    I concur!

I’ve got you all trumped lads, I live in Luton! Think our high street died when Thatcher was still in charge!

And in response to the posts about nightclubs, we’ll never see those days again sadly

alistair was alright. The Manor was the best club in the area, with The Academy/Opera House a decent second option.

Along_the_Wire I agree it’s been in decline for years, lockdown was the final nail in the coffin

I once stayed at the Priory Bay Hotel as a nipper with the family - must say it was delightful.

The Isle of Wight is fine for 2 or 3 nights but after that it all starts to feel a bit Wicker Man.

Smallman1 The Smallman’s live in Seaview for many many years Erik.

So even worse, after 2 or 3 generations it all starts to turn a bit Smallman!

bosstrabs Fuck me, this has become the Middle Aged Men Town Planning Forum.

Nass in his Tweed Jacket straight out of Northumbria Poly leading the charge.

If you are the “pied piper” leading these delingquent heathens through my city with their Sports Direct footwear, I will have you know I am connected and I will. not. allow it.

Dan mate, there’s even a watches of Switzerland so I can get my timepiece fixed!

NasserAlazzawi …definitely quieter in town, mind you, as suggested in this thread, I think all town centres are.

Northumberland Street has always been a bit of a hive for chavs though, no? Definitely not somewhere you’d take guests to the city to show them it’s best side. I think its current state is largely due to the concentration of the few outlets that remain busy, Greggs, Sports Direct, Macdonalds and Primark.

Company I work for has offices in the Haymarket building above the Metro station… last time we were there management had just sent an announcement around all the employees not to walk out of the office with phones/purses in hands after a spate of muggings…. honestly can’t think of anywhere else in the city where that would happen.

Millsy brought here as a child and now all the family are here. Only thing keeping us here is our mums, no way will my wife move away from hers and my mum is a pensioner herself.
