Mad_Cyril Old-Dutch The intent behind policy will definitely change, a lot more sceptical about the execution of it. It’s a start though at least
benson Mad_Cyril I thought it was to take the capital cost off the public sector books rather than offload risk. Look at the shit show that Carillion left behind. And that looks like a mere amouse bouche in terms of amounts compared to thames water. Same MO though: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/carillion-collapse-what-went-wrong/
Mad_Cyril benson Not just the capital. Most of the PFI projects were delivered by private companies, Mcalpine ran a lot of the hospital constructions for example, not the government. Can get you a RACI matrix if it helps.
Amps Mad_Cyril Major infrastructure programmes are, on the whole, run by apolitical civil servants, not politicians. Yes and no… If you look at HS2, that has failed due to the cost over run from inflated comedy contracts. Contracts that the politicians agreed to, knowing they would fail; they were once again just getting their friends rich. A different government probably gets HS2 to Manchester and Leeds for half the price.
alistair Amps I just about remember youth clubs. Were great until lads started stealing the takings and fighting with the pool cues.
Amps alistair Mine was great. Well attended and run. Took me and about 12 others to go to the European Skate Championships in Munster, Germany back in 90 / 91. I cant believe that would happen these days. You and your lot are directly responsible for the decline in this country.
Dan alistair Youth Club was excellent at my old school. Pool, Five a Side football, Hockey and Badminton 🤣
Smallman1 Went to a youth club once. Felt like I was going to get attacked toot sweet so did the offski’s quick sharp.
whatever Smallman1 Smallman1 Went to a youth club once. Felt like I was going to get attacked toot sweet so did the offski’s quick sharp. Things have changed since the Jimmy Savile days, Ed. Was fair enough for them to move you on. At least you didn’t end up on YouTube.
Dubman Mine was also great. Went on a few football tours. Plus all the other sports. Had a wicked disco as well. It’s still there now but not sure what it’s used for now. James O’Brien had a great phone in a few ago all about youth clubs and how important they were for local youth communities. But the Tories closed a lot of them.
Along_the_Wire Always fights breaking out at them, especially the one in Scotland. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a youth club without a tear in the cloth of the pool table, or any evidence that chalk ever existed for the cues.
Mad_Cyril Along_the_Wire Along_the_Wire Don’t think I’ve ever seen a youth club without a tear in the cloth of the pool table, or any evidence that chalk ever existed for the cues. This is the inevitable consequence of the tips being lifted off them!
