    To be totally honest, back in 2016 I thought he was being so controversial I just had a feeling someone was going to have a serious go.

        Most of the crazies that are likely to attempt something like this are on the far right, I didn’t see this one coming. I do still think we’re watching the fall of Rome in real time though. Divisive politics in a post truth world, fed by concerted misinformation campaigns.

        They thought it was from some distance at first i.e. from outside the event but I’ve just come across this quote from the BBC News updates:

          It would appear that trump turning his head right, as he was speaking, saved his life.

          The gunman was on a side roof, presumably off to the left of the screen given how the crowd looks over to the left.

          This would have been a very different moment if trump was facing forward as he shot - that wouldn’t have just nicked his ear and was at the right height for a head shot.

          Imagine the scenes if he was a democrat

          It seems he was hit in the ear by debris, possibly from the teleprompter being hit, rather than a bullet itself which would’ve removed his ear from his head at that range.

          Unfortunately now all we have is the greatest assassination attempt in the history of our country, alot of people are saying it.
