The argument “I was there, I know what happened” is pretty overdone if you ask me. Everyone knows what happened - planes were flown into a building and lots of people died, it was vicious, traumatic and unbelievable to the human eye.
It doesn’t neccessarily mean you know about all the moving parts that occured on that day. He’s obviously extremely patriotic and traumatised so I can see why his brain has shut out all and any possibility of any theories that challenge the official story that Rumsfeld orchestrated. At one point he says he clearly heard “explosions” and his mind at the time put it down to “steel breaking”, he also says he’s not an architect or a specialist on the subject so, there’s a lot of perception from that day that has gotten spun on a fast wash, mixed ith the incredible trauma of being there it’s easy to see how some people are so militant with their beliefs.
