It’s a strange one. Would I go there now? No. Would I go if I was 18 ? Absolutely.

I think from a marketing and business perspective what they have done makes absolute sense. All dark, more floor space by filling in the pool and doing away with the nooks and crannies round the sides of the main room. More VIP around the sides to cater for Will Smith and trust funders. Should bring in the coin.

To me it all looks soulless, but i think thats the vibe these sort of punters want. Phones out, shades on, K-hole, wiggle round a bit, post to the gram. Done.

The beauty of Ibiza is there are choices if you dig into whats on. Plenty of choice for the older heads if you plan your trip / dates .

I would absolutely agree with that but he’s brilliant in Pacha, absolutely smashes it in there.

IndustryStandard agree with what you said. Only thing i would say is that if I was 18 now I would be priced out of going there, whereas when I was 18 I could just about afford to go to all the clubs there (plus getting shit faced in the west end in San An).

Saw a few comments from punters who paid €149 for a night there and had to leave at 8am. Carl Cox and Jamie Jones didn’t even start their set until 9am, so people felt ripped off going to a night when they weren’t seeing the big name DJs.

IndustryStandard just seen some video from inside and it looks utterly soulless now. The thing I always liked about the clubs in Beefa was that they were different inside, had that Mediterranean vibe going on which was a stark contrast to the clubs back here in Blighty. Pacha was a great example of that. Their new(ish) referb looks just as jank as the new Drumsheds….I mean Manumission one.

I’m so old the EUR hadn’t even come in when I went to IBZ a few years running in the 90s. Sure tickets must have been about £30 back then. Remember we only did a couple of big nights, KU one year , then Amnesia the year after. All too expensive.

Rest based in San An . Think tickets for Es Paradis were cheap and they always had decent stuff going on. Remember a Journeys by DJ night there once which was superb. Then just random nights in San An / Del Mar / West End .

IndustryStandard it want people getting turfed out at 8am but people leaving as had to get flights. Maybe it’s their fault for not taking into account when the place opened until (which I assume would have been mid afternoon if Carl Cox only started at 9am)

Like you we only went to one or 2 of bigger clubs back in the day, and then found cheaper nights for the rest of the week. Def needed a few nights of supermarket booze and sitting on the beach near Mambo!
