alistair I’m a Liverpool supporter, I just think he is overrated by our fanbase and it’s telling that, one Ballon d’Or aside, when you speak to fans of other clubs and Europeans as well they don’t put him at the top of ‘best footballers of the 2000s’ lists. Alonso was a more intelligent footballer, but obviously Gerrard got the plaudits in that team for some Roy of the Rovers goals (he also used to spunk a lot from 30 yards).
