    I was staying at a hotel in Italy with work, and in their restaurant they had a giant photo of the Italian national footy team on the wall from when they stayed at that hotel. It’s the whole squad around a big table, all in their pre game matching suits, all smiling and looking at the camera… all accept Balotelli, who is in his own clobber, a miss matched shell suit, openly snarling down the lens. he really is a genuine weapon. Is he still on our books?

              Absolute nonsense. He gets a pass this season due to the defensive injuries. If the slump continues into next season, then that’s a different story.

                  Echo I don’t agree on the defensive injuries thing now, our front 3 have been available the whole time and if they were scoring we would be up there challenging. They need to take more of this blame, and not put it down to defensive injuries. I get it’s not helped fabhino and Henderson having to go into defense, that’s unsettled the midfield. But how come most players have suddenly become bang average, not one or 2 list form, but the whole team. Something is off.

                        I started typing out a lengthy post on my phone and looked at another Webpage before I posted it and now it is gone. This has happened a couple if times now - not sure if it’s a phone or board issue. Probably a bullshit filter of some sort.

                        Anyway I’ll try again. The whole team is bent out of shape. Losing Henderson and Fabinho from midfield has had the biggest impact imo. The high press is gone and they aren’t there to break up play to protect the defence when Trent and Robertson are out of position.

                        Laat season, people were saying the only reason Liverpool were doing so well is because they had so few injuries. It’s been proven to be right. The squad needs better quality of depth.

                        In any case, I look forward to having VVD, Gomes, Matip, Henderson and Fabinho back and playing in their proper positions next season. This season is a write off - unless something can be pulled out if the bag in the Champions League - lol.

                          Old-Dutch I wouldn’t totally discount doing something in the Champions League, English teams often go on these mad European cup(s) runs when there’s nothing to lose and they can even rest players in league fixtures they don’t care too much about inbetween.

                          Liverpool in 2005, United in 2017 (ended 6th in the league and way off points required for 4th spot) and Chelsea in that Benitez season spring to mind. Also, didn’t Arsenal get to the European Cup Final when they were doing shite in the league?
