When you look into anyone who’s saying it and slating DJs they generally are people who used to DJ on vinyl and stopped / recently reconnected with practising again feeling left behind by the more complex technology - most, if not all, are bedroom DJs (nothing wrong with that) but they are showing their insecurities presenting as a flex thinking gunning people down is the way forward.
Famous well known DJs have told me before that everybody’s heros use sync at some point or other.
I will use it if distracted by chatter or if running out of time (having sync on helps hear the track against the current track in the headphones) otherwise I’m mostly using the pitch. I make enough small mistakes in many of my mixes that exposes I’m not using it.. and probably should practise more (hard with baby in bed when I would practise!)
