elrobertos Sasha and Digweed are the only two I’ve heard do this to any great effect
Ian Ossia used to be in that category as well, when I saw him playing his progressive house stuff. No idea what his mixing style is now he’s playing disco and funk. Some of the transitions on his all too rare released mixes are musically amazing.
Unbroken1 it was just good blending of 2 tracks together
This is Pappa for me. Not necessarily creating something completely different, but getting from A to B with such seamless precision…
Unbroken1 There are obviously DJ’s like James Z that were doing something radically different with the way they put tracks together
I find a lot of the DJ wankery dull, but I can stand and watch JZ DJ for hours. Even when I’m watching him, I rarely completely understand how he’s doing what he’s doing.
There’s a big gap though, between taking two pieces of music in their raw form, and creating a third piece of music in the mix, and using effects in the way that James does. I’m impressed by the latter, but I’m blown away by the former, when it’s done well.
