Glastonbury was brilliant this year - there’s a lot of bilge there, but that’s not what you go for - had to see Elton John as the missus wanted too - I was curious as he said he’d do something special to his current tour - it wasn’t, it was the same unlistenable shit.
Thursday was by far the best day - massive bar crawl round the whole place, lots of excellent sound systems in the bars - biggest highlight was Phil Hartnoll doing a secret DJ set at the end of the pier at Glastonbury on Sea with his son - 50 people there and it was a spectacular 4 hours - he loved it too.
Mate of mine fainted just at the start of Rick Astley doing The Smiths - all quite stressful that - he went down right at my feet and then did it again - medics had to take home away and it meant I missed all of Leftfield apart from the last five minutes - difficult to be angry with my mate, but fuck me, that was the one gig I really wanted to see.
Lightening Seeds were great on a lovely sunny afternoon. K-Klass were absolutely brilliant. Spent a fair bit of time at Block 9 and Sangri La and there was just so much brilliant stuff at the smaller stages. Chemical Brothers were also brilliant, but fuck me, they put in an awful lot of breakdowns to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Max Richter was great too, but he was getting drowned out a bit by some excellent techno at Stonebridge.
Hell of a long weekend that in fantastic weather. I actually got a bit of a tan.
