Smallman1 Went here earlier, had the trio of roasts and the salted caramel sundae for dessert - https://www.chefandbrewer.com/pubs/surrey/fairmile Was bang average.
Smallman1 Mad_Cyril Bang average is dece for a chef & brewer!! The two pluses were the portion sizes were big (not a euphemism) and the wine was dirt cheap.
Smallman1 Dan Just had the first Chinese take away in ages and now I feel like I’ve been raped. Sweet and sour prawn balls and chips one hopes?
Smallman1 Am going to be heading here soon - https://www.brasseriezedel.com/ Hold tight for feedback!
Smallman1 Not a big fan of the ole steak tartare but I shall give it a whirl. Hold tight for feedback!
benson I probably post this every year but went to the Nut Tree Inn in Murcott last night. Absolutely bang on. Nice wine flight as well. https://www.nuttreeinn.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Nut-Tree-Inn-Festive-menu-2023.pdf Guinea fowl instead of sweetbreads and we had cheese soufle from the veg menu in place of salmon. Absolutely spot on
Mad_Cyril benson Looks dreadful Bens, not a big fan of the old tasting menu concept. Each to their own, but the very term wine flight makes me want to smash some fucker in the face.
benson Mad_Cyril Generally my view. But it was decent portions and decent food. Nice to try a few different wines. But yes, in general I prefer an a la carte
Mad_Cyril benson Fair play. Glad it turned out well 👍 I’m a bit grumbly about the food market at the moment, especially instagram chancers / food markets. Must be my age!
Smallman1 Heading to the legendary North China later - https://www.northchina.co.uk/ Will be thinking of me ole mucka Dave as I’m working my through the Peking classics!
RichM Smallman1 could you ask them why they called themselves North China? The menu is the same big standard English Chinese takeaway you see across the whole of the U.K. nothing North Chinese about it, unless the toffee apple and banana is the north Chinese element on the menu
