Mad_Cyril Smallman1 You can get a decent pizza for between £10-£15 in London. Don’t think that’s too bad. Franco Manco isn’t decent Ed
Mad_Cyril LT42 Yeah, I’m talking specifically about the places that will charge double that for the same quality, Ed, just because they have fancy lighting and nice cushions on the seats. I suppose like most things its because of the twats that frequent them. I might be getting old, well I am actually, but happy to leave the BERKs to it. If someone is stupid enough to pay for it then that’s their bag. Knock yourself out
whatever British people with poor standards and low expectations are just complacent about poor quality, over-priced food. They conflate expensive with good quality well cooked food and blindly accept restaurants that increase prices and decrease quality and food. Thank god for the Top Top Restaurant thread is all I can say.
Smallman1 whatever Thank god for the Top Top Restaurant thread is all I can say. Is the right answer!
mjh Smallman1 Thanks. Looking forward to stabbing myself in the eye with fork as recompence for my sub-par bants.

Smallman1 Had lunch here earlier with Snr, was fab - https://kinjo.co.uk/neighbourhoods/cobham/ Saw JT after too, which was nice. KLANG.
Smallman1 For anyone thinking of going to Exeter - https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/oct/13/stage-exeter-just-know-its-all-bloody-good-restaurant-review
hugopal Smallman1 For anyone thinking of going to Exeter - https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/oct/13/stage-exeter-just-know-its-all-bloody-good-restaurant-review It’s been listed in the Michelin guide for over a year already (and is the only restaurant within the centre of Exeter to have any Michelin recognition), so it’s hardly new or unexpected news.
hugopal Smallman1 Just had lunch here, absolutely sensayshballs - https://www.supernovaburger.com/ It looks like just another dry/crispy-meat smash burger place. I really don’t understand the trend - aside from the perspective of being pushed by the industry and restaurants themselves as both an easy cooking method and a way to hide cheap ingredients behind all that blackening. Oh how I miss fat, juicy burgers made with proper good quality meat which you can taste.
Smallman1 Got there when it opened at midday and there were 40 people waiting. Service is quick though so it was no bother.
bosstrabs hugopal Nowhere should be selling a burger and fries for more than 12 quid. Smash burgers are fine if Shake Shack or a trailer in a pub car park are doing them. It is shitty junk food, not proper restaurant food (with associated prices).
RichM hugopal that place Ed went to will be selling good quality meat, its just in a smash burger. I prefer them to be chunky burgers
